About 12kms inland from Currumbin, Queensland, are the well known Currumbin Rock Pools. With a grassy picnic and BBQ area as well as toilet facilities, this spot caters to young and old with easy access to the water from a bank that you can slowly wade into. A popular spot to spend the day at, the water catches the late morning sunshine well into the afternoon. Not to worry if you forgot to pack your lunch! Right across the road from the pools is the OM Cafe & Convenience Store with tasty and hot meals available made by the friendly locals. If you're after more of an adventure, continue deep into the heart of the Currumbin Valley to the very end of Currumbin Creek Road where the Cougal Cascades flow from the foot of Mount Cougal to naturally carve a rockslide that plummets you into a two-tiered pool. If the rockslide deems too daunting and if you're relatively agile, it is possible to climb down the rock face to dip into the large pool at the base of the waterfall. The Cascades are accessible by veering of the paved path just after a viewing platform at the top of this natural beauty, though you'll hear the hoots and cheers of those enjoying the rockslide echoing through the rainforest as you approach.
