Anse Source d'Argent (La Digue, Seychelles)
A beach you’ve seen on a thousand postcards, but reality still manages to outshine the photos. Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue is arguably the most famous shoreline in the Seychelles. With its massive, sculpted granite boulders, pale white sand, and water so clear it looks like glass, this spot is pure visual overload. Recently listed by Lonely Planet as one of the world's best beaches for 2024, it’s a bucket-list destination that actually lives up to the hype.

Type of spot
A sheltered lagoon protected by a reef, famous for its shallow turquoise waters and iconic granite rock formations. It’s less of a wave beach and more of a pristine, natural pool perfect for wading and floating.
Type of access
To get here, you enter through the historic L’Union Estate on the southwest coast of La Digue. There is an entrance fee of 150 Seychelles Rupees (SCR) per person for the day. It is well worth the cost, as the fee goes directly towards the maintenance of the estate, the beach, and the local wildlife conservation.

Walking distance
Once you enter the L’Union Estate, it’s an easy, flat walk through vanilla plantations. From the beach entrance, you walk along sandy paths that weave between the giant boulders to find your own secluded patch of sand.
Best season to swim here
The Seychelles is a year-round destination, but for the best clarity, aim for April-May or October-November. Crucial tip: Check the tides. This beach is best enjoyed at high tide for swimming and snorkeling. At low tide, the water becomes very shallow.

Recommended for
Photographers, snorkelers, and sun-seekers. The calm, shallow waters make it amazing for relaxing, but the real magic happens when you explore. You can also hire clear kayaks to explore the reef and clear waters.
