The Eyre Peninsula, SA
A Raw Coastline
Heading into this stretch of coastline, we kind of knew what to expect, geographically.
We hit part of this coastline back in the day.
It's not too dissimilar to the Northern parts of our home state, West Oz. A similar landscape (just a bit less red) and a similar climate (maybe a touch cooler).
What we didn't count on was rolling into the Peninsula on the back of a 7m swell.
That kind of canceled out a bunch of spots we'd planned to camp at and also stunk up a bunch of beaches with head high mounds of seaweed and a heap of erosion, damn it.
A few intended Swim Spots not logged 😢.
Once the skies & coastline cleared up, we ended up spending time in Streaky Bay, Elliston, Sharinga and Port Lincoln. Epic little towns with friendly people and considering it was South Australia School Holidays..relatively quiet.
Considering the conditions, pick of the spots for us (a family of 4) was Fishery Bay. Little camp spots behind the dune, and family friendly beach breaks flanked by left and right hand point breaks.
A damn fine part of Australia and we can totally understand the drawcard to this part of South Oz.
